The Medicine Wheel Game Preserve is a family owned and operated business with a mind set on production, preservation and promotion of the Great Authentic American Buffalo! We believe in sustainable living practices and a holistic approach to managing all of our resources whether raised on our preserve or natural to the area. The entire area is a wonderland of many types of forests and grasses, birds, animals, and butterfly. Just to name a few.

We have been raising our buffalo sense 1993 at the Homestead Lodge in OxBow, Maine. From the massive adults to the frisky calves, buffalo are intelligent, curious, dignified and tremendously strong. We pride ourselves on breeding strong, healthy animals with sound characteristics for attractive mounts as well as naturally wild dispositions to enhance the hunt experience. We continually strive to build the strongest herd possible to better the quality of life for our animals and to ensure that our meat and our hunts are of the highest standards.

We run approximately 40 head of buffalo on the Medicine Wheel Game Preserve and have kept stringent control on the lineage of all our animals. Patriarch bull "Willie Nelson (really Willie III) was chosen for his confirmation, disposition, and horn tip span. Matriarch "Patsy Cline" is a very large example of a Bison cow. She is a little longer from the Woods Bison lines and produces very strong healthy offspring.

American Buffalo is the generic name for Bison and is considered Gourmet meat. Our herd is grass fed from birth to plate and is free ranging. We do not use feedlots, no antibiotics, no hormones, and no steroids! All packaged meat is from "Prime Animals" no older than 30 months, to insure flavor and tenderness. Carcasses are dry-aged for 8 to 10 days before processing. Then vacuum sealed and labeled.

We are members of the National Bison Association and the Eastern Bison Association.
